Wastewater
Wastewater disposal from household and business not connected to a municipal or group system
must have a system to adequately treat and dispose of all wastewater generated.  County sanitary or
environmental codes are intended to provide a minimum standard for design and construction of any
system.  Codes apply to new systems and any system that is not operating in a manner that provides
proper treatment and disposal of the waste.

The codes are administered by  a local agency, named by the county commissioners. This agency is
responsible for the permitting of new or modified systems.  Design and construction must meet
standards set or referenced in the codes.  Counties without codes must follow minimum standards as
set by state regulation.
